This is to advise members and friends that the NPTCC Website has been updated with Results, Reports and Photos of the recent trials.
There are many excellent pictures. These can be accessed at the moment from the front page, just above the main photo or at any time from the 'Photos' Page (page 3!).
Glenn Bennett has 10 YEARS
of NPTCC photographs on the site and they can all be downloaded free gratis and for nothing. Glenn has both low resolution (quick and convenient) and high resolution shots (eye-wateringly sharp but longer to upload/download).
Brian Bolt has come along to some of our events and has captured some super images and he has made them available from his website. To download - click on the image then click on the down arrow.
This website receives over 35,000 visits a year including 10,000+ from overseas and I suspect most of those view the site just for the photos.
Technical MattersPosted by Colin Campbell Fri, February 02, 2018 23:59:402018 Driver Classes
The Driver Classes for the 2018 Season were agreed at the Committee meeting on 27 January and are reproduced in the PDF below.
A combination of last season's average scores and finishing places was used in determining the classes, as the average scores alone produced a number of obvious anomalies. The Club's Championship rules have therefore been amended to incorporate the improved methodology.
Any drivers wishing to appeal their classification may appeal to the Committee within 21 days.
Appeals should be made in writing to the Club Secretary and state the grounds of appeal.Amended Club & Championship Rules
A copy of the full Club and Championship Rules, incorporating the amendments referred to above and which were approved by the Committee on 27 January, is attached below:

This blog is to update Club Members on a number of matters reflecting recent decisions taken by the
1. 2018 Events Programme (Updated 20/12/2017)
The Club’s new programme of
events for 2018 has now been finalised and a copy is available to download here:
2. Club and Championship
Revised Club and Championship Rules will apply from the 1 January
2018. A copy may be downloaded here:
There are three main substantive changes:
The introduction of a
permissive policy allowing a change of car during Clubman events (Rule 43).
This reflects the MSA’s wish to encourage a “sporting and gentlemanly practice”
at club level events. The details and conditions, including the related 12-point
penalty imposed to offset any perceived advantage, are set out in the new rule.
The inclusion of 12 point
penalties for competing with tyres under the pressure specified for the event (Rule 54).
This will replace the 50-point penalty that applied previously and was never used as it was generally considered to be too punitive.
A more streamlined set of
awards to be presented at the Club’s annual Presentation Dinner (Rule 58).
rationale for this is five-fold:
to achieve a consistent award structure;
to give recognition to passengers in the annual event awards;
to contain the escalating cost to the Club of continuing the previous
to enhance the perceived value of the Club’s awards to recipients by
reducing the number trophies from 56 to 26;
to streamline the actual awards process at the annual dinner.
In addition, some consequential renumbering and other
presentational adjustments have been made.
3. Membership and Event
A modest increase in Club membership and event entry fees
will apply from 1 January 2018.
These fees have remained static for more than five years now, during which time the Club has managed to absorb increased costs, including the higher landowner fees we now pay. Following a review of income and expenditure and preparation of the 2018 budget, an increase is now required to balance the annual accounts and avoid further annual deficits.
The new fees will be as follows (old fees
shown in brackets):
Annual Membership Fee £15.00 (£10.00)
Day Membership Fee £5.00
Event Entry Fee, Clubman £30.00 (£25.00)
Event Entry Fee, National ‘B’ £35.00
It is hoped that provided entries remain at their current
levels, this modest increase now will avoid the need for a bigger increase in
Some members may feel the Club has adequate reserves and a
fee increase is unnecessary. In reality, of the current 'surplus' of around
£13,500, some £6000 is earmarked for Repairs and Renewals, the majority of
which is already committed. If £2000 is assumed as a realistic balance for
operating the current account, then that leaves a general reserve of only around
4. New Facilities & Equipment Unit
In response to complaints and numerous member requests, a new mobile two-toilet facility (male & female) has been commissioned, which the
Club can self-service. This will also accommodate the Club’s
event day equipment. Brian Thornton has volunteered to undertake the project,
which will cost half that of a bespoke unit. It is anticipated that it will be operational for the start of next season, following which, the existing trailer can be sold.
5. New Club Treasurer
Karen Briggs has been appointed Treasurer from 1 January
2018 to take over from Rene Pickup who is retiring after a long stint of
looking after the Club’s accounts. We thank Rene for all the work she’s done
for us and for agreeing to prepare and submit the 2017 annual accounts before
finally hanging up her abacus. We also wish Karen well in her new role.
6. New Look Membership Cards
There will be new-look Club membership cards for next season. These have been designed to enable members' names and membership numbers to be automatically inserted from the Club's membership records during printing, whilst still incorporating the MSA's required content. Membership Secretary, Lesley Baxter, is really pleased because it will save her laboriously hand writing over 100 cards every year and new Treasurer Karen Briggs is really pleased because they're half the cost of the old MSA standard cards we previously used. Hopefully members will like them too as the cards are credit card size and should fit into wallets and purses better.
